This is a project centred around the transgender community, specifically trans masculine individuals. I have been photographing using tilt-shift lensing and motion blur to distort some characteristics of my subjects. I have been doing this so my audience can be frustrated by what they can and can't identify on my subjects. In doing this I can express my personal frustration with how the trans masculine community has toxic and unfair stereotypes forced upon them by society. However a person wants to identify is none of our business and we are responsible to listen and accept how someone wants to be seen.

Not long ago I read a quote that stuck with me, it said something along the lines of: there are a billion people in the world and we take the time to get to know everyones name, and yet there are only a few pronouns in the world and for whatever reason we struggle to take the time to remember the ones people want to use. Think about this the next time someone takes the step to use a different pronoun than what you were expecting. It takes a lot of courage to express yourself as authentically as possible. If there is anyone who deserves recognition, it is the people who do just that, everyday. We all live, breathe and love - that's what makes us all HUMAN.

This is an on-going project.
