My sister and I share a bond that has grown stronger with time. Like many siblings, our relationship had its ups and downs and we weren’t always close. As adults, we've found a deeper understanding of each other, built on shared experiences, mutual support, and a sense of humour that always finds its way in. That closeness didn’t come easily, which makes it all the more meaningful.
When she moved to Alberta in 2021, it was a big change. For the first time, I couldn’t just stop by her place or invite her over on a whim. The physical distance was tough, but inspired us to create something meaningful—an annual road trip every June. With the Rockies practically in her backyard, I travel west each year and we set off on our week-long journey. We leave behind the distractions of everyday life, spending most of our time off the grid and surrounded by nature. These trips have become a reset for us both, a space to reconnect and remember who we are to each other.
The photos from these trips are more than just beautiful landscapes. They capture the laughter, deep conversations, and the quiet moments we share. I hope that in the years to come, we’ll look back at them and not only remember the views, but also the closeness that grew with every mile we traveled side by side.
